About this team

The Endothelin-1 (ET-1) ELISA kits quantifies Endothelin-1 in human, bovine, porcine, dog, rat, and mouse serum, plasma, urine, or cell culture medium. The assay will exclusively recognize both natural and recombinant endothelin-1.

Principle of the method

The Endothelin-1 Solid Phase Sandwich ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) is designed to measure the amount of bound target between a pair of matched antibodies. A target-specific antibody has been pre-coated on the wells of the supplied microplate. Samples, standards, or controls are then added to these wells and bound to the immobilized (capture) antibody. The sandwich is formed by the addition of the second (detector) antibody, a substrate solution is added which reacts with the enzyme-antibody-target complex to produce a measurable signal. The intensity of this signal is inversely proportional to the concentration of target present in the original sample.

Destination information

The protein encoded by this gene is proteolytically processed to release a secreted peptide called endothelin 1. This peptide is a potent vasoconstrictor and is produced by vascular endothelial cells. Endothelin 1 can also affect the central nervous system. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

Rigorous validation

Each manufactured lot of this ELISA kit is quality tested against criteria such as sensitivity, specificity, precision, and lot-to-lot consistency. See the manual for more information on validation.
